Layout is comprised of taking pre-existing information, and using a structured grid, visual hierarchy, and a balance of textual and visual elements to achieve an easy to read and understand document.  Ease of navigation, and the ability to find the desired information quickly are key goals of layout design.

Cookbook

This cookbook was completed for a layout and document production assignment. Taking old family recipies, I used Adobe InDesign to create a format for the book, including table of contents, section dividers, and recipe pages. Usability was taken into account for the design, with the ingredients listed to the left of the instructions.

Web Layout

The website for caringbeyond.ca was redesigned through development of the concept, purpose, audience, and usability of the site’s elements.

The process involved:

  • comparing the current website to other websites and print resources

  • identifying user profiles

  • determining missing content opportunities

  • creating a site map

  • creating a visual identity

  • designing individual site pages

Magazine Cover Layout

Two different versions of a fictional magazine cover were produced  using a set grid. Analagous and complemetary colour schemes were used.
