Information design is the process by which collected data is organized and placed into context to become useful information.  It forms the basis for solving the problem of information overload in today's world.

Website Re-Design

In this theory-based assignment, the website for an existing non-profit company was re-designed. This was achieved through development of the concept, purpose, audience, and usability of the site’s elements.

The process involved:

  • comparing the current website to other websites and print resources

  • identifying user profiles

  • determining missing content opportunities

  • creating a site map

  • creating a visual identity

  • designing individual site pages

Research Project

Wayfinding Study for the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area (ASCCA)

A formal research process was used to determine what changes, if any, were needed to make wayfidning easier for visitors to the ASCCA. A random sample population completed an online questionnaire to determine the usefulness, satisfaction with, and ease of use of three different trail map versions. The results were complied and assessed using a qualitative approach, with questions being formulated in part around Arnie Lund’s Usefulness, Satisfaction, and Ease of Use Questionnaire and task-related performance metrics scored using a 5-point Likert Scale.
